Bake Off Sale and Darebin Creek Tour to celebrate World Environment Day
Get your baking gear out and join the fun while raising money for the environment.
The Environment Club is organising a Bake-Off Competition and Bake/Food Sale to celebrate World Environment Day. This will be run as a House Competition and a fundraiser with profits donated to ‘Trust for Nature’, a non-profit organisation focused on revitalising and protecting the flora and fauna on privately owned land in Victoria. Every dollar sold will equal one House point. And there will be more house points for winners of the following categories:
1st prize: The Tastiest Treat (as voted by the students themselves)
2nd prize: Da–Best Decorated (as voted by our special judges Dr Nikou, Mr Silver and Ms Grealish)
Novelty categories include:
Cutest cupcake
Beautiful biscuit
Very vegan treat
Heavenly Healthy item
Scintillating slices
And finally, a Super Staff award.
Here is what you need to know: Food should be labelled with (1) the student’s name (2) their House and (3) all ingredient information. Labels to be provided by Ms Mare.
No nuts or nut products.
Contribution should be ‘single serve’ items (i.e. not require cutting or slicing).
Items must be brought in containers or on biodegradable disposable plates. They must be fully covered.
Food needs to be dropped-off to the collection point on the morning of the sale (8.15 – 8.45am in the Lyceum).
So get baking, support a worthy cause and eat delicious treats at the same time.
Another opportunity to celebrate World Environment Day is to come along on the Darebin Creek Tour to be held on Friday 2 June. It will be guided tour conducted by the Education Officer of the Darebin Creek Management Committee and will look at the impact of our society on the creek. It will be held at lunchtime and students need to register their interest beforehand by contacting Ms Mare in the library.
On behalf of the Environment Club, we all hope to see as many of you as possible at our Bake-Off Competition/Sale and Creek Tour.
