At Alphington Grammar School, academic acceleration and extension opportunities are a crucial element of our curriculum.
To cater for and extend our most able, high achieving students, we created the ALPHA Initiative at Years 7 and 8. The ALPHA Initiative, which stands for Advanced Learning Programs for High Achievers, has been designed to encourage and stimulate the talents of our students, to sharpen their critical thinking and problem solving skills, to refine their leadership capabilities, and to extend their philosophical and intellectual understanding of the world in which they live.
The program is a select entry program where nominated students will be required to fulfil specific criteria and take part in an interview process in order to qualify for entry. Identification occurs through formal assessment results (internal and external), student performance, and direct referrals can be made by a subject teacher.
