Excellence in Sport Scholarship

Excellence in Sport Scholarships are available to current and prospective students entering Years 5 to 10 in 2028 who demonstrate exceptional talent in and commitment in the following Sports:

  • Basketball
  • Swimming
  • Volleyball

Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements (at the discretion of the Head of Sport):

Years 5–6

•     Athletics: qualification for and competition at Regional level or above in the School Sport Victoria pathway, or at the Little Athletics Victoria State Championships

•     Swimming: registered with a Swimming Victoria affiliated club, and competing at Regional level or above in the School Sport Victoria pathway or at an equivalent age championship meet

•     Basketball and Volleyball: competing at representative level in a state-sanctioned competition

Years 7–10

•     Athletics: qualification for and competition at the School Sport Victoria State Track & Field Championships, or at Victorian State Championship level through Athletics Victoria or Little Athletics Victoria, or selection in a Victorian representative team

•     Swimming: registered with a Swimming Victoria affiliated club and training in a performance or competitive squad, with qualifying times achieved for and competition at Victorian Age Championship level (or the School Sport Victoria State Championships), or selection in a Victorian representative team

•     Basketball and Volleyball: competing in the highest state league division available for the applicant’s age group

Evidence must relate to the previous 12 months and may include official results, qualifying times, meet or fixture programs, or written confirmation from the relevant club or association.

Students who fall just outside the benchmarks above are still encouraged to apply. Where an applicant does not strictly meet the minimum requirement, the application will be assessed on its merits at the discretion of the Head of Sport, having regard to:

•     Athletics and Swimming: the applicant’s recorded times, marks or distances relative to the relevant qualifying standard, and the trajectory of those results over the past 12 months

•     Basketball and Volleyball: the representative team, league or division in which the applicant currently competes, and any squad, academy or pathway program into which they have been selected

Meeting the minimum requirement does not guarantee a Scholarship, and falling marginally short of it does not preclude consideration.
