Excellence in Greek Music Scholarships are available to external prospective students only entering Years 5 – 10 in 2028.
Applicants should be able to demonstrate a willingness to celebrate all aspects of Greek Music and Culture.
This includes participation in either:
· Choir: Knowledge of the Greek Language is required; or
· Greek Band: Students will continue to learn and perform on a traditional Greek musical instrument. Instrument options include Bouzouki, Baglama, Toumperleki, Mandolin, or Accordion. Students must have a minimum of three years’ prior tuition and experience on their chosen instrument.
Eligibility Requirements & Additional Information:
· Student must be an Australian citizen or permanent Australian resident.
· Applicants must complete and submit a Greek Music Scholarship Application Form (along with payment of non-refundable $100 inc. GST Application Fee) in full by 12:00pm on Friday 5th February 2027. No late or incomplete submissions will be accepted after this time.
The following information must accompany the Excellence in Greek Music Scholarship Application Form:
- 2 x most recent School Reports
- Most recent NAPLAN results
- Most recent Greek School reports (if applicable)
- Details of 2 x referees (not direct family members) that can be contacted by Alphington Grammar School
- Completion of handwritten candidate response form (available for download within the application form)
- Documentation that would support the applicant’s submission (including evidence of meeting minimum requirements listed above, awards, reference letters, examples of participation etc).
Short-listed applicants will be invited for an audition and/or personal interview with the Principal and/or the Head of Music and Performing Arts. Candidates should come prepared to talk about their skills and attributes, their interests, and their suitability for selection.
Successful applicants will be offered a Scholarship expressed as a percentage of tuition fees only. Other fees and levies are excluded.
Excellence in Greek Music Scholarship holders are expected to:
- Continue their studies in the Performing Arts to Year 12 (or to continue to actively contribute meaningfully to the AGS Performing Arts programs, including participating in the Greek Band and/or Choir).
- Participate in music ensembles, school performances and events and support the Arts ethos of the School.
Complete their education at Alphington Grammar School.
Excellence in Greek Music Scholarship is awarded at the sole discretion of the Principal. No correspondence pertaining to any individual’s application, or the award will be entered into once The School has made its decision. Alphington Grammar School reserves the right to withhold a Scholarship if no suitable candidate fulfils the criteria as deemed appropriate by the Selection Committee.
