Alphington Grammar School is proud to congratulate our 2025 Vice Captain, George, and his brother, Sotiri, on their remarkable participation in the historic Winter Olympics Flame Ceremony as part of the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Torch Relay.
The ceremony, which commenced at the Archaeological Museum of Olympia and was attended by global dignitaries—including President of the International Olympic Committee Kirsty Coventry and the President of the Hellenic Republic, Constantine Tassoulas—served as a powerful reminder of the Olympic spirit.
In their grandparents’ birthplace of Kozani, Greece, George and Sortiri had the honour of carrying the Olympic Torch—a symbolic and unforgettable experience for both students and their family. Their involvement in this global tradition is a testament to their character, leadership, and deep connection to their heritage.

Year 9 student Taika is a proactive leader in youth mental health and an ambassador, mentor and active member of The Man Cave Taika recently was invited to Parliament House in Canberra to attend the launch of the Parliamentary Friends of Healthy Masculinity.
Following this he had high tea at the home of Her Excellency the Governor General, Sam Mostyn AC. She delivered a powerful address on the importance of The Man Cave’s work and expressed her deep support of the organisation. Taika then facilitated a practical connection exercise called Spectrum for the entire room. With Federal MPs, mental health leaders, key philanthropists and potential investors participating in an embodiment exercise led by a 14-year-old was a truly inspiring experience. Taika held the space with confidence, integrity and warmth, encouraging people to reflect, move and engage with genuine curiosity. An experience of a lifetime for this champion of youth mental health.

On Saturday 22 November 2025 we welcomed back Alumni from the Class of 2005, 2015 and 2020.
With several staff in attendance it was great to reconnect and share memories. After refreshments and networking our Principal Dr Nikou spoke about what has changed in the School and our future directions, then led the group on a tour of the campus.
