Alpha News, Term 4, Week 8

From the Principal

Future Leaders

Leadership aspirations is about personal development that enables you to bring value to others while significantly improving one’s ability to build strong listening, communication, planning and higher order thinking skills.  For some people leadership can come naturally however, for most of us it takes years of practice.  In a P-12 school of our size the opportunities to set up and take the lead starts in Primary School where students can volunteer or nominate for diverse leadership roles in and out of the classroom.  Some students wish to push themselves further and join debating teams, complete the Public Speaking course, apply for formal School, House or class leadership positions and then go on to lead in a variety of ways working with a diverse group of peers towards building a stronger school community.

This last few weeks saw many of our students nominate and put in place their candidature speeches addressing their peers and staff with why they were nominating, what value they believed they could bring to the role and how they would execute the responsibilities of the role they were seeking endorsement for.

I am pleased to confirm the Primary and Middle Years Leaders.

Congratulations to all candidates on their appointment.  With the hope for a better more connected 2022, I look forward to working with all leaders and watching them grow in their role for 2022.
Beauty and The Beast

The Years 5 and 6 production of Beauty and The Beast was indeed a huge success.  The two performances in the Andrianakos Centre this week was an absolute highlight of the year.  With the many lockdowns we have all endured this year it was wonderful to be able to reschedule the performances to take place before this academic year closes.

Congratulations to all the cast and crew, the Director Mrs Priya Wilson and her team of staff who have helped bring these performances to a live audience. A full report will appear in the next edition but in the meantime please enjoy a selection of pictures from last night’s performance.
