Alpha News, Term 3, Week 2

Welcome Back

Term Three started with a mood of guarded optimism after last term’s COVID-19 restrictions. Our optimism tempered because if the past 18 months has taught us anything in Victoria, it’s that this pandemic is wildly unpredictable. No sooner were we moving forward with caution, than the need for further stay at home restrictions were announced by the Victorian Government almost overnight.

We know that the Delta variant of the virus can spread fast, in sudden surges. We can only look with sympathy towards our colleagues in fellow Victorian schools who have been affected with positive cases. Similarly, we should send our best wishes to friends and family in New South Wales who now face much longer extended lockdowns than ourselves.

While it’s not the start to the new term any of us would have scripted for ourselves, l applaud the way in which all students and staff got on with what needed to be done to ensure that learning continues seamlessly, albeit online again.

Our greatest strength is the ability to connect as a community and support each other. l express my thanks and gratitude to the staff of our school who have shown resilience and flexibility at each and every stage of this pandemic, and who are making sure that our students are managing their mental health and well being.
